We will educate you regarding our program and help you understand the developmental process for your child.
Here's how it works:
Watch with your own eyes as . . .
Your child begins by learning the profound influence of the martial arts "attention" stance and the "bow." Then watch as he:
Immediately begins to learn self-control and focus with the "Three Skills of Listening."
Gains power from the ability to be confident yet respectful.
Gains confidence with the "Three Self-defence Techniques Every Child Should Know".
Builds rapport with a SUPER ROLE MODEL Black Belt instructor.
Then feel the warmth as you hear him recite the four tenets of the Kids Karate Promise:
In one short lesson, your child will come away with her self-confidence greatly improved. Not just in how she feels. She'll actually end up with real "Skills for Life." Skills that she can put to powerful use right now, today.
All while enjoying the fun and excitement of an enjoyable and exciting martial arts program.
To register for the free introductory program, complete the "Free Introductory Program" form above and register right here - on-line. We'll call you back to arrange a special time for your child's first free visit.

Zoe used to be confident…ready to take on the world. But once she started Year 5, she seemed like a different person: hesitant and unsure of herself.
Courtney's dad says she is getting exposed to more and more negativity, and he wants a place that will teach her how to protect that positive heart she has.
Ryan’s mum worries because Ryan is so easily wounded. Things said to him by the other kids at school hurt his feelings easily.
The peace of the household is frequently disturbed. Everything is a battle: getting ready for school; dinnertime; homework; even things that used to be enjoyable family activities.
Paula's parents worry that her preoccupation with being popular will make her an easy target for negative peer pressure.
Tyler, age 6, does great when he gets it right the first time. But when he doesn’t get it on the first try, he becomes totally frustrated and says, “I’ll never be able to do it!”
Simon used to enjoy playing outside, but has he is putting on weight and has turned into a couch potato.
Martin, bright, smart, and formerly very interested in doing well, has somehow got the idea that it’s not “cool” to try hard with his school work.
Mum and dad are frustrated at the lack of respect demonstrated by their children. The parents think, “How is this happening? I would never have gotten away with this when I was a kid!”
Harley seems to always gravitate towards kids who are constantly in trouble.
Julie, formerly bright and easy to get along with, now is moody and sullen much of the time.
Grace is concerned about her son, Alex. Since the divorce, he doesn’t have a positive male role model and he is often very difficult to get along with.
Stephen focuses just fine when it comes to video games -- but can’t seem to listen or focus on school work…or things said by Dad!
Suzanne is constantly down on herself, often saying, “I’m not as pretty as Elizabeth,” or “I’ll never be popular like Maddie.”
Scott used to be a nice, kind child. Lately, he has become increasingly aggressive. His parents have had two calls from the school about their son bullying younger children and they just can't understand it.
Cooper isn't focused in the classroom, and the paediatrician says he might need to be medicated. His parents hate that idea. They feel that Cooper just needs to learn listening and focus skills. They are frustrated…how can they build the skills he really needs?
If you’ve “found” your son or daughter on the above checklist (and most people do!)…read on…
Note: We get reports like the following every day, from parents whose children train at “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy.”
…Jenny’s confidence has grown tremendously since earning her Green Belt. Mrs. Condon (Jenny's teacher) has just called to say that Jenny can now stand up in front of the class in school and confidently speak. Mum and Dad are very pleasantly surprised.
…Not only has Gemma gotten fitter…she seems to have a newfound love of being outdoors, playing, and running.
…Morgan used to be terrified of moving outside his comfort zone but now eagerly takes on new challenges. As his confidence grows, he moves on to the next challenge with excitement. His parents credit the high energy and positive environment of “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy.”
…Stuart has become more cheerful and helpful around the house. He enjoys family activities…just like he used to when he was younger. His mother reports that he is now a joy to be around.
…Mum was delighted when, at the street end of year bar-b-q, a neighbour commented, “Your son Justin is such a well mannered young boy!”
…Lucy says “Mum, the kids were saying mean things to me at school today.” Mum thinks, “Oh no, here we go again.” -- and says, “Well, how did you handle it?” Mum breathes a sigh of relief when Lucy says, “It’s no big deal. Their words can’t hurt me. I learned that at Karate!”
…Trent, formerly quite slovenly, now seems to be taking pride in his appearance. Without being asked, somehow his shirt is clean, his teeth are brushed. And, his bedroom is tidy and clean! Just as Trent is proud of his martial arts accomplishments, he also seems to take pride in other aspects of his life!
Now, you’ve got to be asking yourself,
“This sounds great - but how does it work?” and “How do I get these results for my child?”
First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Richard Marlin. I’ve worked with over 10,000 children (just like yours!) over the last 25 years and more. For more than 30 years (I first started teaching in 1979), I’ve been nurturing children with character building tools found only in the martial arts.
I’m now teaching the children of people who trained in my program as kids.
I am the founder “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy” in South Lismore. It’s one of the oldest businesses in Lismore. It is considered by many to be one of the most successful martial art schools in Australia. We’ve received national and international recognition and numerous awards and accolades over the years.
But…what am I most grateful for? Apart from being a family man with three wonderful daughters, it is having the privilege of making a worthwhile contribution to our community.
But -- enough about me! Here’s how it all works:
Introducing ... The SMA “Ten Point Success System”
1. Positive Role Models: The biggest asset of “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy?” The teachers. They are not like the teachers you’ve seen in the martial art movies. Are they “tough?” Yes. But what you will notice (and so will your child)…is that they are also “nice.” They have been hand picked…not just because they are great martial artists. They have been chosen because they are wonderful people…and have a great love of helping others benefit from the martial arts! All of our teachers started out as students at “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy” themselves. They care - and are totally committed to helping your child reach his or her potential.
2. Physical Fitness: It’s hard to feel good about yourself when you are out of shape physically…or when your basic physical skills have not been fully developed. Our belief is that, regardless of how physically talented somebody seems to be…there is a champion inside all of us. When a student feels their physical skills skyrocket…it’s not long before their self-image follows!
3. A High Energy, Exciting Environment: Many children have grown accustomed to virtual activities (video games, television, facebook). Participating in an exciting, high energy environment, focused on an actual activity, will give your child a very real sense of achievement!
4. Regular Incentives for Effort and Achievement: The belt system of the martial arts (your child will earn a new belt every quarter: white, gold, orange, green, etc.), regular positive feedback and recognition of accomplishment will systematically lead your child into the “Yes, I Can!” attitude that we all want for our children.
5. Our “Dojo Philosophy”: Regular exposure, through our “Skills of Mastery” to systematic instruction, accompanied by exercises in the "Principles of the Black Belt," honesty, respect, humility, self-control, perseverance, contribution and indomitable spirit. (Most of the “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy” parents name this as their favourite part of the program!)
6. A Proven System of Skill Development: No fancy theories or hard to understand concepts here. Our teachers are experts in teaching the actual SKILLS of listening and focus. Hint: We’ll be teaching these to your child in the very first week.
7. A Series of Positively Constructed Challenges that will build your child’s confidence. You will be delighted as you see your child moves outside their comfort zone. As the weeks go by, you will smile with pride as your son or daughter moves from challenge to challenge…their confidence soaring at each new accomplishment!
8. An Atmosphere of Respect: You watch with satisfaction as your child learns to give respect and to earn respect. Most importantly, they learn the essential lessons of Self-Respect!
9. Order and Structure: Even though the atmosphere is friendly and supportive, Karate is not “play time.” You will be delighted to see how your child develops focus and persistence in our orderly, structured environment.
10. A Friendship Based Environment: If you are expecting the old, harsh, authoritarian, military style martial arts training…you are going to be sadly disappointed. When you visit us, you will find a friendly, supportive environment. Some of the teachers and long time students have been friends for nearly 30 years. That atmosphere of friendship, support, and respect will give your child the support he or she needs to succeed!
“So - who are these teachers? And where do I get them?”
·We “grow” our teachers ourselves! Each “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy” teacher begins first as a White Belt Beginning student right here in our school.
· As their Martial Art skills progress, and they demonstrate the required character traits in the Leadership Program, each prospective teacher begins a "Kohai" (Junior Teacher's Assistant) program conducted personally by one of my senior teachers.
· Then, they move forward into a “Certified Teacher Training” program, where they receive hands-on experience in teaching the “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy” curriculum.
· Only after a long (and challenging) professional development internship are they considered for formal employment at “Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts Black Belt Academy.”
“Ok - I Might Be Interested... What Do I Do Next?”
First of all, I don’t want you to believe these amazing claims based just on my say-so.
I’d like to make it possible for you to see, first hand, and with your own child (and, at my own personal expense), exactly how we make good on all of these claims. Now, here comes the good part. I’ve made it very easy…
Here’s how:
